The new Mombasa county assembly speaker is Thaddeus Achieng Rajwayi. Rajwayi won the seat with a landslide victory. Of the 30 votes cast by the county ward reps Rajwayi garnered 28 while Mohamed Faki Mwinyihaji who is an advocate of the High Court gained only two votes.
Rajwayi who is a former technician at the Mombasa Polytechnic will now oversee the proceedings of the county assembly. Both candidates are from ODM.
