
The Amani coalition has announced they will not present a candidate for the Speaker or deputy speaker position in the National assembly. The coalition however put forward Vihiga County Senator George Khaniri for the post of deputy speaker in the senate.
The national assembly is this Thursday set to hold its first sitting, which will include the swearing in of all MP s-elect and the election of the National Assembly Speaker together with his deputy.
Former Speaker to the National Assembly is seeking to get a second term and is expected to get stiff competition from AbdiKadir Mohamed for the speaker seat. President Mwai Kibaki will be in attendance to witness the election ceremonies.
Leaders of the jubilee coalition are to meet in the Great Rift Valley Lodge, Naivasha ahead of the swearing in ceremony on Thursday. Top on the agenda for the coalition is to strategies on how to share power in the Cabinet, National assembly and The Senate. The issue of influence in both houses is also top on the agenda that will be held at the closed door meeting in Naivasha.
