Outgoing MP Accuses Clerks Of Bias

Former Mathira MP Ephraim Maina.
Former Mathira MP Ephraim Maina has claimed IEBC of- ficials have interfered with the voting process in some of the polling stations in Nyeri County. Maina who was until yesterday the Nyeri county Senate seat candidate alleged that polling clerks were misleading semi-illiterate voters by directing them to vote a certain way.
Maina was speaking to the media at Ragati Primary School shortly after casting his vote. He alleged that he has received reports that some some voters had been directed to vote all candidates contesting in The National Alliance party. Maina claimed that they were being instead being shown to vote for a different candidate of a different party which is not even part of Jubilee coalition.
However, Hon Nderitu who has vied for area governor seat candidature said he was satisfied with the way the IEBC was conducting the elections. Gachagua who was voting at Hiriga Primary School said that he will now be waiting for results and would respect the outcome.
He said that there attempts to bribe voters by some candidates in some areas of the county such as Tetu Constituency and Kieni west in Kieni Constituency. Meanwhile, the voting process in Mathira constituency went on peacefully with some polling stations finishing as early as 1pm though there were some hiccups due to occasional failure of the BVR kits or failure of the electronic voting system.
