President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga will take the lion’s share of nominated MP slots in the National Assembly and Senate.
Deputy President-elect William Ruto’s United Republican Party, which has 63 MPs and 11 county women representatives, will also take a large share of the 12 slots up for grabs in the National Assembly.
Consequently, Mr Odinga’s brother Oburu Oginga and Mrs Beth Mugo, Mr Kenyatta’s cousin, are set to return to Parliament through the special party nominations.
ODM, with 95 MPs, will nominate four while TNA, with 81, is expected to pick three from a list comprising which mainly youthful candidates. URP will also nominate three.
The remaining two slots will be shared between Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper and Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi’s United Democratic Forum.
Dr Oginga, the former Bondo MP, was embroiled in an acrimonious fight for the ODM ticket for the Siaya governor’s seat with politician William Oduol.
Dr Oginga, Mr Odinga’s the elder brother was, however, forced out of the race but is set for a return to Parliament as he is number one on the party’s list of 12.
Others expected to benefit are Mr Isaac Mwaura, a human rights campaigner living with albinism, social scientist Zulekha Hassan Juma and Prof Colleta Suda, who had shown interest in the Migori governorship.
TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja could also be on his way to the august House as his name is the second on the list after Ms Amina Abdalla, who will be nominated by Mr Kenyatta for a record third term.
Third on the TNA list is Ms Janet Mararia Teiyaa, who is expected to represent people with disabilities.
Ms Mugo, is also set to make a comeback.
The former Dagoretti MP, who had been expected to run for the Nairobi Senate seat, pulled out citing health issues.  She is top on the list that also has Ms Emma Mbora, party official Lydia Mathia and journalists Joy Adhiambo and Naisula Lesuuda.
ODM has nominated party official Janet Ongera and assistant minister Elizabeth Ongera. Others on the ODM list are Hadija Abdille Mohammed and Esther Ayiepo Longorio.
However, ministers Sally Kosgei and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru could miss out as they are listed as number nine and 10, respectively.
ODM is entitled to four of the 16 seats in the Senate.
Mr Ruto’s URP has nominated Korere Sara Paulata, who comes from a marginalised community, Mr Abdinoor Mohammed Ali and Somjeev Birdi. The party, which has 63 MPs and 11 county women representatives, is entitled to three MP slots.
In the Senate, where URP has 11 MPs and is expected to nominate three women, the likely choices are Ms Mshenga Mvita, Ms Chelule Liza and Ms Dullo Adan. It has listed Narok-based medic David Sankok in the persons with disabilities category.
The Wiper party can nominate one MP each in the Senate and National Assembly.
Both TNA and ODM are expected to nominate an equal number of women to the Senate.
Parties are required to consider the youth, marginalised persons, women and people with disabilities when compiling lists of nominees.
