Kajiado, Kenya: Names of more than 40 voters in Don Bosco polling station in Kiserian, Kajiado West Constituency are missing.
The voters, who thronged the polling station at 4am on Monday to cast their votes, were surprised to queue for hours only to find their names missing in the IEBC register.
Kajiado West Constituency Deputy Returning Officer Peter Tait told The Standard that affected voterswill not be denied a chance to vote since they have their voter’s cards, an indication that they registered in the station.
“Those affected have their voter’s cards showing they registered here,” said Tait.
Meanwhile, two voters sustained minor injuries on their legs and hands following a stampede in the mid-morning hours in the polling station.
Tait said the two voters were treated and discharged in a nearby clinic before they were released to cast their votes.
Though there were still long queues in the polling station, Tait said everybody will get a chance to vote despite the stipulated time by IEBC which indicate that all polling stations to be closed by 5pm.
