Friday March 15, 2013 - Elders from the Kikuyu and Kalenjins communities have said they are ready to face the outcome of the Supreme Court, if the Coalition for Reform and Democracy (CORD) files a petition challenging the election of Uhuru Kenyatta as the fourth President of Kenya.
In a meeting held at a Nairobi hotel on Friday, the council of elders said if the Supreme Court nullifies the election of Uhuru Kenyatta, they will marshal their communities to vote in large numbers and embarrass the CORD leaders.
Kikuyu Council of elder chairman Wachira Kago who was present at the meeting said CORD leaders are a group of activists, who are obsessed with power.
Wachira said going by the last General Election voter dynamics, Jubilee coalition has still an upper hand and they will make sure they will open a gap of more than 1 million votes if there will be a run –off.
The elders also urged members of their communities to pray for President – elect Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto as they await the court’s ruling.
