Nairobi, kenya: Evans Kidero has been declared the first Governor for Nairobi County in a highly contested post.
Kidero who was contesting for the seat on an ODM ticket beat his rival in TNA,
Ferdinand Waititu to emerge the winner.
He garnered 692,483 votes against Waititu’s 617,839.
During his acceptance speech at the Nyayo National Stadium where the results were announced, Kidero thanked his supporters saying that they should be proud of themselves for what that have delivered from the polls.
“I will embark on bringing Nairobians together, … I will be a Governor of all religions, races,” said Kidero.
Accompanied by his family, Kidero promised that he would provide employment opportunities to the youth.
Jimnah Mbaru was also contesting for the post on an APK party ticket, after his loss during the TNA party primaries.
