Karua asks voters to shun violence

By MUNENE KAMAU
Narc-Kenya presidential candidate Martha Karua has urged Kenyans to remain united even after today’s historic elections.
She said even before she ventured into politics, she was a Kenyan and would remain so after the elections. “I want to ask Kenyans to remain the same during and after the election process,” she said.
Speaking when she attended Sunday service at Kaminji ACK church in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, the presidential candidate said she would be contented with the voters’ verdict today. Karua said the country was just like a home where all must retreat to regardless of the outcome.
She said will cast her ballot at 6am at Mugumo Primary School polling centre within her rural Kimunye home. “I want to be the first person to cast my ballot at my home by 6am tomorrow (today), and will expect all registered voters to do the same as we move to the new political dispensation,” she said.
Karua said those who stand for good and democratic governance should feel duty-bound and vote as early as possible.
“You cannot take trouble to register and then shy off from voting leaving the democratisation process to just a few to decide for you,” Karua said.
