Thursday, the 7th of March 2013 - News just in indicates that former Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has announced her retirement from politics just hours after she lost her bid to become Nakuru’s first Senator to TNA’s James Kiarie.
Kihara also conceded defeat in the race and thanked those who had voted for her for their support.
Kihara fell victim to the TNA wave in Nakuru that saw the party sweep up all the big elective posts up for grabs with wins in the Senatorial, Gubernatorial and Women Representative post.
Kinuthia Mbugua beat an impressive list of fellow contenders to emerge the winner of the Nakuru County Governorship race.
Nakuru was one of the areas that bore the brunt of the 2007-2008 post election violence and Kihara was one of the politicians who was adversely mentioned as having played a part in the mayhem.
54 year old Bernard Orinda Ndege who lost his family in the PEV told the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) that Kihara told a rally in 07’ that people of the Luo and Luhya community should be pushed out of the area for supporting her rival at the time John Mututho.
More updates to follow.
