Wednesday, the 6th of March 2013 -The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) a few minutes ago released the first batch of official results. The results released are for the Diaspora, Kijiado South and Kajiado Central.
IEBC Chairman Issack Hassan said that a team of ten experts were working on seeing that the results of the other 288 tallying centers would be released in due course.
The results of the diaspora are as follows; Kiyiapi7, Karua 31, Dida 6, Musalia20, Muite 1, Kenneth 78, Raila 1,224, Uhuru 951. Raila also got more votes in Kajiado Central but Uhuru took Kajiado South.
Kajiado Central: Uhuru - 14,747 ; Raila - 19,955.
Kajiado South: Uhuru - 24,000; Raila - 17,500
Releasing these results, Hassan said that he and the other commissioners would be making ‘regular and timely’ announcement of the other official election results throughout the day.
Hassan also revealed that only 53 of the 290 Returning Officers had so far arrived at the IEBC’s central tallying centre at Bomas. He added that the commission would be sending choppers to pick up other Returning Officers in far flung corners of the country.
“We have sent choppers to pick up some of the returning officers and bring them to Bomas with the results.”
