


A senior military officer is contemplating quitting his job in anticipation that he will be appointed the Cabinet secretary in charge of Defence. This is predicated on whether the Supreme Court dismisses the petition by Cord challenging the declaration of President elect Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner of the March 4 general elections. The soldier has already indicating is intentions to the Jubilee leadership who in turn have said they would 'positively consider' him for the position if Uhuru wins the petition.

Can someone at the Ministry of Health explain why they have delayed paying research assistants who worked for the Kenya AIDS Indicator Survey (KAIS II) three months down the line? Some of those who participated in the survey conducted between October and January claim they have not been paid a single penny. The programme was aimed at providing important information to the ministry of health and other international and local partners to improve the country’s response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

The business community in South B is this week set to meet the National Police Service Commission chairman Johnstone Kavuludi over escalating crime in the area and its environs. Top on the agenda is a request for the transfer of long serving Industrial Area police boss Thomas Atuti and his CID counterpart. The businessmen believe the prolonged stay at the station by the two men had led to some complacency which has led to the growth of criminal gangs who have taken over the Industrial area and shopping centers making them unsafe for businesses and residents from as early as 6 pm.
