Vihiga Mp Yusuf Chanzu (L) and Wilbur Otichillo both have been re-elected once more to sere as Vihiga and Emuhaya mps respectively.
Vihiga County: Immediate Former Vihiga MP Hon. Yusuf Chanzu and Emuhaya Mp Wilbur Otichillo retained their position after being voted back their constituents to serve them for the next five years in parliament.
Chanzu won the election with 14,053 votes in the UDF Party against his close competitors Ernest Kivai Agesi with 7,347 of New Ford Kenya party followed by Christopher Amasara ODM Party with 2,104 votes.
Confirming Chanzu’s win, the Vihiga Constituency Returning Officer Geoffrey Eng’or while announcing the result at the Vihiga constituency tally centre which was located at Vihiga Boys high school said it was important for candidates to respect and obey the rules set by the body.
After being declared the winner, the legislature said that despite his opponent trying to black mail him during the campaign he managed to outdo them.
Chanzu said that despite the tough competition and the IEBC regulation during the campaigns he managed to win with a land slide.
He promised to continue serving the residence of Vihiga constituency and also work together with his opponent to ensure that the constituency develops.
On the hand Wilberforce Kitiezo emerged the winner as a county representative in Lugaga/Wamuluma ward with a total vote of 3666 followed closely with Obed Chogo with 2412 votes.
In South Maragoli ward Elizabeth Anaya emerged victorious with a total of 2157 followed closely with Norbert Ogesi with 1828.
Following the anomalies that took place in various polling stations in Emuhaya constituency, aspirants seeking to represent region in Amani and Cord coalition issued a joint statement terming the whole process as sham and declared not associate themselves with whomever, but instead demand for fresh elections in the constituency.
Stephen Nyamanga of UDF, Inea Omuka of Mwangaza party and Caleb Ingolo of Federal party of Kenya(FPK) have claimed that tallying figure were being inflated for ODM Parliamentary candidates.
The trio claimed claimed that non registered voters were voting at Essaba, Essunza, Musirili and Emanyinya polling station. They claim that the number of voter turnout for national assembly candidate as compared to county representative at Emanyinya polling station was highly questionable.
They say one Zebedee Osabwa who happens to be the landlord for IEBC Emuhaya and who is a member and contractor of CDF was bribing voters at Ebusiratsi C.o.G which was reported and no action was taken.
