Politicians allied to Jubilee coalition on Sunday asked the international community to stop imposing leaders on Kenyans.
Nairobi Metropolitan Minister Jamleck Kamau, former Belgut MP Charles Keter and former Cherang’any MP Joshua Kutuny said voters should be allowed to elect their leaders without external influence.
“These foreign countries should keep off our affairs and let Kenyans make their own choice,” said Mr Kamau, who is also the former Kigumo MP.
Western countries have warned of unspecified actions if Kenyans elect certain leaders.
Mr Kamau also said that Kenyans will reject 'projects' imposed on them by the international community.
Also, Mr Keter said attempting to interfere with the March 4 polls was similar to interfering with the nation’s sovereignty.
“We should not allow western countries to dictate to us,” he told a public rally in Ihura Stadium, Murang'a county.
Mr Keter, who is vying for the Senate seat in Kericho County on a URP party ticket asked residents to vote in candidates vying under Jubilee alliance.
On his part, Mr Kutuny asked the Cord coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga to resign from active politics together with President Mwai Kibaki.
He reiterated that the Jubilee alliance would triumph in the coming elections and western leaders would still attend Mr Kenyatta’s inauguration as the fourth president.
“Even US President Barack Obama should prepare to attend Uhuru’s inauguration as president,” said Mr Kutuny.
