Jubilee Alliance presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday blamed Prime Minister Raila Odinga for failing to mobilise his supporters and prevent the 2008 post election violence after the disputed presidential poll.
Mr Kenyatta accused PM Odinga, who is also Cord's presidential candidate for engaging in mediation efforts to end the violence only after a power sharing deal was struck.
“Raila failed to prevail upon his supporters to end the violence and it is only after he got his position that he saw it wise to do so,” said Kenyatta while on a campaign trail in Nyamira County.
Mr Kenyatta said such leadership should be avoided and called on Kenyans to elect Jubilee for a fresh governance.
"Poor leadership is the main cause for poverty, illiteracy and poor healthcare. These are some of the issues that my government will bring to an end when you vote for Jubilee," he said.
Speaking in Nyansiongo in Nyamira County, Mr Kenyatta pledged that his government would fast-track the resettlement of IDPs who are still in the camps.
Mr Kenyatta also challenged political leaders to desist from divisive politics for the sake of unity and peace.
He said that Jubilee was ready to concede defeat after the outcome of the March 4 elections and challenged other presidential candidates to follow suit.
"We have agreed as Jubilee to accept and respect the outcome of the poll. If Raila wins, then we will concede defeat. I also expect Raila to do so in the event that he loses," he said.
"We have worked hard enough to unite and resolve the border disputes that have been causing problems here. We want leaders who will continue with the the same spirit of uniting the people of Kenya" he added.
He said that Jubilee will fully implement the Constitution and ensure that Kenyans are allowed to live anywhere in the country without any fear.
"Let us stop the politics of hate. My party will not be part of the ongoing insults that our colleagues in other coalitions are involved in," he said.
He also promised that his government will empower the youth and women by creating investment opportunities that will sustain their livelihood.
"We will ensure that 30 per cent of our procurement goes towards development of women and youth enterprise” Uhuru said as he urged women to vote for Jubilee since it would also provide free healthcare services.
"Our coalition has a serious plan of ensuring free healthcare for expectant mothers so as to avoid the high cases of maternal deaths that have been recorded in the country" Mr Kenyatta said.
