Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula made frantic midnight calls on Tuesday to persuade his party members not to walk out of the Cord alliance.
Speaking to the Star yesterday, Ford Kenya Nairobi senator candidate Okiya Omtatah said Wetang’ula pleaded with the officials and candidates to cancel a news conference that had been set for yesterday to announce their withdrawal from the coalition.
“We only agreed to hold on because of Wetang’ula’s position in the party,” he said. Omtatah said they are unhappy with how ODM and Wiper have treated their candidates, especially with the call for “six-piece” voting in ODM strongholds.
On Tuesday, Cord presidential candi- date Raila Odinga announced that he will soon meet his coalition partners to discuss the possibility of Cord fronting one candidate for every elective seat across the country.
