Eight people among them six Victory Construction Company employees and two pupils were killed on Saturday evening after their truck was involved in a road accident at Sololo, Makueni County. Among the dead is a man of Asian origin.
According to Mbooni East District OCPD Mr Philip Ouma, six people died on the spot while two more died at the Machakos Level 5 Hospital while undergoing treatment in the 7:45pm incident.
Mr Ouma confirmed that the accident took place at Sololo along the Tawa-Kikima-Utangwa-Kyambalasi road after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The lorry is said to have rolled several times before landing into a ditch. The deceased pupils are also said to have tagged along for a ride on their way back home.
Bodies of the deceased are lying at Tawa Funeral Home.
