Despite RAILA saying NO ……. MUTUNGA swears in KIMAIYO’s deputies

Wednesday, the 13th of February 2013 -Chief Justice Willy Mutunga a few minutes ago swore in Deputy Inspectors General of Police Grace Kaindi and Samuel Arachi. Kaindi is to serve as the Head of Regular Police while Arachi will be in charge of the Administration Police.

Unlike before, the current constitution has given Regular and Administration Police the same level of recognition. Also sworn in at the Supreme Court today is the new head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Ndegwa Muhoro.

Kaindi, arachi and Muhuro had all been confirmed by parliament before it was dissolved but their appointment was stalled by Prime Minister Raila Odinga after he raised doubts over their ‘integrity.’

It seems pressure to allow the three to take office before the March 4th elections has finally paid off.

More to follow.
