The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) took its campaigns to the North Rift where the coalition's presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka promised security in the region.
Speaking in Kakuma and Kalokol, Mr Musyoka said Cord will ensure adequate security for the people in Turkana County who have experienced cross-border raids and cattle rustling.
"A Cord government will ensure peace and stability prevails in this region among other areas witnessing insecurity problems because without peace no development will be realised,'' said Mr Musyoka.
Mr Musyoka said Cord will guarantee equitable distribution of national resources through the Equalisation Fund.
He said the area had great agricultural potential and that Cord will ensure irrigation farming will be intensified by harnessing rain water.
He assured Turkana residents that Cord would ensure that oil discovered in the area benefits locals.
"We want to assure the Turkana community that a Cord government will do everything possible to ensure they benefit more from the oil which has been discovered in the region," he said.
Mr Musyoka said the coalition's manifesto provides a monthly stipend for the elderly as well as women empowerment.
He urged locals to ignore the empty rhetoric peddled by opponents and instead focus on party policies to make informed choices.
Mr Musyoka urged peaceful electioneering cautioning the youth against being misused to engage in violence during and after the elections.
Cord's presidential candidate Raila Odinga and Ford-K leader Moses Wetangula also held separate rallies in Turkana county.
Mr. Odinga was in Lokichar and Katilu while Mr Wetangula campaigned in Lokori and Lokichar area.
The three Cord leaders were expected to hold a joint rally in Lodwar town.
