Biwott dismisses Ruto claims on his party

By Fred Kibor
National Vision Party (NVP) leader Nicholas Biwott has dismissed remarks by Jubilee coalition deputy presidential candidate William Ruto, which disparaged his party’s popularity.
Mr Biwott, who is aspiring for the Elgeyo/Marakwet County senator seat, said Ruto’s sentiments at a Jubilee rally in Iten last week should be disapproved.
During the rally, Mr Ruto said NVP and the former ruling party Kanu were insignificant in Kalenjin politics.
“The days when voters were driven by political euphoria are long gone and some individuals making reckless remarks ought to be aware that the voters are wise nowadays and they will analyse candidates on the basis of performance,” said Biwott.
He added that NVP had a national outlook and has fielded candidates in several regions across the country.
Biwott said Ruto with his Jubilee brigade should not bundle the Kalenjins in one basket like 2007 when they blinded them to join ODM.
Ruto at the Iten rally asked Biwott and former president Moi to rally behind Jubilee coalition.
Counties merged
He urged the Kalenjin community to use the ‘six piece’ system in voting, which Biwott has dismissed.
Speaking yesterday at Kapcherop and Chebororwa trading centres, the former Keiyo South MP said if elected he would champion for the separation of counties that were merged so as to ease service delivery.
