Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta has asked candidates vying for various positions in the March 4 elections to respect each other.
“Our country needs all of us and we need leaders. We should uphold respect and walk together knowing that each one of us has a talent that is bestowed us by God,” said Uhuru.
The TNA leader was speaking in Meru on Saturday when he attended the induction ceremony of the first African woman bishop of the Methodist Church, Catherine Kagwiria.
Uhuru said respect by politicians and Kenyans in campaigns will prevent the country from plunging into chaos during and after the elections.
“We need to unite as we call for peace in Kenya. We should all know that even if we are in different parties, we don’t want to see bloodshed due to political competitions," he said.
Uhuru was accompanied by Cooperatives minister Joseph Nyaga, immediate former North Imenti MP Silas Muriuki, his Central Imenti counterpart Gitobu Imanyara and several Methodist leaders including Bishop Lawi Imathiu and Kenya Methodist University vice chancellor Alfred Mutema.
