Thursday's nominations could see families have multiple members with one leg in the next government.
Prime Minister Raila  Odinga’s brother and sister are among aspirants seeking different positions.
The PM’s elder brother Oburu Oginga is fighting it out with other aspirants for the  Siaya  governor’s seat, while his sister Ruth Adhiambo is seeking the same position in Kisumu.
Some aspirants have expressed fear that they might use family ties to get favours from ODM, notion both Ms Adhiambo and Dr Oginga have rejected.
Ms Adhiambo said she was seeking a political position not as the daughter of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga but a credible leader with a track record.
The PM’s step-brother Omondi Oginga who has been a Kisumu councillor took a break from elective politics but has been campaigning for the Jubilee.
In Nyatike Area MP Edick Anyanga will be seeking to retain his seat while his wife Anne Anyanga is seeking to become the first governor of Migori County.
Mr Fred Otieno Otieno, son of Public Service minister Dalmas  Otieno, will be fighting it out with Mrs Anyanga while his father will seek to defend his Rongo parliamentary seat. But the elder Otieno dismissed his son’s candidature arguing that he did not have the family blessings.
In Nairobi, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru’s son Stephen Kariuki is contesting the Mathare parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket. “It is true that Karis is in the race,” Ms Wanjiru said.
In Langata former Roads minister the late Kipkalia Kones’s son Kevin Kalya Kones — and whose mother Beatrice Kones is fighting to defend her Bomet East seat — is in the race for Langata parliamentary seat.
In Narok, two brothers are likely to face each other in the race for Narok senatorial seat.
Former Cabinet minister, Julius Sunkuli is seeking the TNA ticket in today’s nominations to compete against his younger brother, Andrew Sunkuli.
