Eldoret North William Ruto has torn into Prime Minister Raila Odinga's ODM saying it is being idolised by a few of its members.
“A party is not an idol to be worshiped. A party is a vehicle to be used in search of benefits,” Ruto told Msambweni residents at a campaign rally at the Jomo Kenyatta Primary School at the weekend.
He said there is no need of belonging to a party that does not benefit Kenyans. “Don’t be cheated that you are ODM damuODM damu? Use your brains,” said Ruto.
He said ODM failed to deliver on the promises it made to Kenyans before the December 27, 2007 general election. The URP leader said Raila's party did not honour its promise to solve land problems in Kwale even though the Lands ministry is headed by James Orengo, an ODM MP.
“If you use your brain you will not be cheated by ODM's request for another chance saying they were given half a loaf of bread. What the half loaf has accomplished must be seen before the other half is given out,” said Ruto.
Ruto said a Jubilee government will give emphasis to the Coast region to enable it develop its potential. He was accompanied by immediate former MPs Chirau Ali Mwakwere (Matuga), Francis Baya (Ganze) and Kazungu Kambi (Kaloleni).
Mwakwere urged residents to turn out in large numbers for the March 4 polls. He said Ruto helped reduce famine in Kenya during his tenure as Agriculture minister.
The Environment minister said Ruto sacrificed his presidential ambitions to support Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta so that he could unite Kenyans.
