Raila, Kalonzo present papers to IEBC

NAIROBI; KENYA: Presidential candidates submitted their preliminary documents to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as preparations for the March 4 General Election entered homestretch.
CORD’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Amani’s Musalia Mudavadi and Eagle Coalition’s Peter Kenneth were among those whose papers were lodged by their agents.
Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka also submitted his application as Raila’s running mate under the CORD alliance.
Kenneth of Kenya National Congress had his officials deliver the papers in the morning.
Making submissions on behalf of Raila and Kalonzo, ODM chairman Henry Kosgey confirmed he had the certified particulars of the two principals in the alliance.
Degree certificates
“I am presenting papers pertaining to the PM’s presidential bid to IEBC with the party’s authorisation,” he stated.
He continued: “We have attached details of our nominee’s requirements like the ID, qualifications, voter’s card, degree certificates, accreditation from the Engineering Registration Board among others.”
Mr Kosgey also submitted the VP’s particulars. “We have presented the documents of the VP who will contest for the deputy presidency in the coming polls,” he added.
He said they had obtained over 4,000 signatures from supporters across the country to comply with the IEBC requirements.
