ODM party is expected to release a list of approved nominees to be submitted to the The Independent, Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) later today.
Yesterday the chairman of the ODM election Board Franklin Bett said they have received and processed nearly 6,000 applications. “We have meticulously dealt with most of the applications and disqualified those who do not meet the qualifications” said Bett as he supervised the dispatching of nomination materials across the country.
Sources say that Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru’s name has been dropped from the list of candidates seeking the Governor's post. THE Commission for Higher Education had rejected Wanjiru's educational qualifications. The IEBC stipulates that all candidates for governor must be "a holder of a degree from a University recognized in Kenya."
Wanjiru received a degree of Doctor of Theology from Vineyard Harvester Bible College on July 13, 2003. On October 26, 2010, she received a bachelors degree in Christian Leadership from United Graduate College and Seminary International. However on January 2, the Commission for Higher Education advised that "the degrees awarded are not recognised in Kenya."  Sources say that her name has been slotted on the list of candidates contesting for the Women Representative seat.
