Mike SONKO makes Fred GUMO retire and leave POLITICS completely

Wednesday January 18, 2013 - The popularity of Makadara MP Mike Sonko has made veteran politician Fred Gumo bow down in Nairobi politics, DAILY POST has established.

According to our mole who is close to the Westlands lawmaker, Gumo resolved to retire from politics after seeing that he will be embarrassed by flamboyant Makadara lawmaker who is a darling of Nairobians.

In a meeting held at Orange house on Tuesday evening, Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka pressurised Gumo to run for the Senator seat in Nairobi, but defiant Gumo said he cannot wait to be embarrassed by “a young man” in Nairobi.

The PM and VP had earlier asked Gumo to compete with Sonko, since he is the only leader who is able to tame Sonko’s soaring popularity. The PM also asked Mutula Kilonzo to move to Nairobi and go for it incase Gumo bowed out. Mutula said he is not comfortable with vying in Nairobi and opted for Ukambani. This leaves Elizabeth Ongoro as the ODM candidate in Nairobi.

Sonko is vying for the Nairobi senate seat on The National Alliance (TNA) ticket.
