Judge carjacked in Kenyan capital

NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 24 – High Court Judge Grace Nzioka is the latest high profile victim of a carjacking in Nairobi.

Justice Nzioka was hijacked by armed gangsters as she entered her home in Karen. She was then forced into the house.

According to police, the gangsters stole personal items and electronic goods then ordered the judge into her vehicle and drove off with her.

Her husband who was driving into the compound unaware of the incident is said to have been ordered to also board the vehicle which headed towards Dagoretti.

“They were all dumped in Dagoretti but none of them was harmed,” a police officer privy to the incident said.

The couple is said to have found their home after reporting the incident at Hardy Police station.

The Head of Police operations in Nairobi Wilfred Mbithi confirmed the incident but could not offer much detail.

He said no suspect had been arrested over the incident. It was not immediately clear where police officers attached to guard her and her home were at the time.

There was no immediate statement from Chief Justice Willy Mutunga who police said had been briefed on the matter.

Two weeks ago, an Administration Police officer attached to guard the home of another High Court Judge Lydia Achode was shot dead outside the judge’s Garden Estate home.
