Five WOMEN shortlisted to succeed NANCY BARAZA

Thursday January 24, 2013 - Five women have been shortlisted by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to fill the position of sacked former Deputy Chief Justice Nancy Baraza.

Among those who are shortlisted is the Court of Appeal Judge Kaplana Rawal, lawyers Phoebe Nyawende, Raychelle, Awour, Joyce Majiwa and Lucy Kambuni.

The only man who had applied for the post was not shortlisted

The position was first advertised by the JSC last November, but was re-advertised because it was not satisfied by the number of the applicants.

The position fell vacant after the tribunal formed to investigate Ms Nancy Baraza found her unfit to continue serving as DCJ for “gross misconduct”.

Ms Baraza was involved in altercation with a security guard Ms Mary Kerubo at Village Market Mall, where she pinched her nose and threatened to shoot her with a gun.

The incident happened last year.
