Nairobi governor aspirant Jimnah Mbaru is not one to lose an opportunity to campaign. After addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Mbaru brazenly asked journalists to vote for his nomination and election as the Nairobi governor. And to drive the appeal home, he distributed copies of two dailies that carried his election promises.

Claims by the Jubilee Coalition that it is the "digital generation" have come back to haunt it. Social media pundits are questioning the postponement of nominations for TNA and URP — key member parties of the coalition — on Thursday. Many users wondered how the digital generation could fail to get their act together. The nominations finally took place yesterday.

A senior police officer recently got a mouthful from the conductor of a bus he had flagged down on University Way for violating traffic laws. The bus conductor told him to use his energy on dealing with the bogus cops among his ranks first before asking for bribes from hardworking Kenyans. The conductor told the officer it was better to be a conductor than a fake policeman, in reference to Nakuru impostor David Waiganjo. The embarrassed officer walked away as passengers joined in the shouting match.

There is growing disquiet among staff at the Retirement Benefits Authority after a certain woman employee was promoted without going through the laid down procedures because of her close relationship with a top manager. Prior to her promotion, the lady had had the Authority sponsor her postgraduate studies. The woman's entire fees were paid upfront even though the company policy states that one can only claim a refund after finishing the studies.
