Civil servants working for various government departments based at Nyayo House especially those in the top floors of the building have for the last two weeks had to walk up more than 20 flights of stairs after the Kenya Power disconnected supply to the building due to unpaid bills running into millions of shillings. The public has not been spared either as anyone who is seeking services in any of these government departments has had to use the stairs. Immigration minister Otieno Kajwang and Energy minister Kiraitu Murungi have had to use the stairs too.Murungi's office is on the 23rd floor of the building.

To prove those who do not believe the Jubilee Coalition’s claim it was the most popular in Nairobi, party officials allegedly went to great lengths to ensure that Uhuru Park was filled to the brim. Several bus and matatu operators were hired to ferry in people in from different parts of the city as well as from the areas adjacent to the city. People were being offered between Sh200 and Sh500 to enter the matatus and buses which drove direct to the venue where they were dropped off. Promises made that they would get a similar amount of money after thermally were easily broken as none of the officials were available.

A flamboyant politician who hopes to become the governor of Siaya has found himself in a tight fix after his wife filed a complaint with FIDA claiming he has been regularly battering her. The man's impressive academic qualifications and successes in the corporate world may not shield him against a possible disqualification by the IEBC if it is established that he has been physically abusing his wife.

A prominent minister refused to pay the parking fee at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport claiming he was a VIP and should not be asked to pay for his Land Cruiser. However, the parking clerk was adamant in applying the instructions issued by KAA to levy the parking fee on all motorists except the presidential motorcade. A bodyguard of the angry minister tried to harass and intimidate the parking attendant who refused to back down. Realising he had no away of getting away without paying, the fulminating minister withdrew a crisp Sh1,000 note. The parking fee he was trying not to pay— a mere Sh60!
