A fallout is looming in New Ford Kenya amid claims that three close allies of Justice Minster Eugene Wamalwa, who lost in the party primaries in Bungoma County, have been handed party certificates to contest in the coming elections.
Former Bungoma County council chairman Julius Bakasa, who lost the Tongaren New Ford Kenya ticket to Dr. Charles Ngome, is alleged to have been given the nomination certificate.
Mr. Wamalwa’s aide Mr. Jack Wamboka, who lost the Bumula parliamentary ticket to lawyer Boniface Otsiula, is also alleged to have been cleared by the party.
New Ford Kenya Organizing secretary Dr. Juma Mukhwana, who also lost the Kabuchai parliamentary ticket to Phillip Mukui, is also alleged to have been handed the nomination certificate.
Efforts to get the party officials to confirm the allegations were fruitless with reports that they are locked up in a meeting to resolve the stalemate.
The three aspirants who lost in the primaries have been point men of Mr. Wamalwa and New Ford Kenya party in the county.
The allegations of losers being handed certificates have led to massive protests, with a section of county party officials maintaining that the nomination disputes are yet to be resolved and no one has been handed the certificate.
The disputes have tainted the reputation of New Ford Kenya party which has been enjoying support in the county.
Justice Minster Eugene Wamalwa has distanced himself from the dispute pointing out that the party dispute resolution board was handling the matter.
He said he has had no hand in the nominations since he is not vying for any position himself.
Angry New Ford Kenya supporters in Bumula constituency held protests and burnt the effigy of Mr. Wamalwa who they accused of meddling in the polls.
Another close Wamalwa ally, Mr. Majimbo Kalasinga who was contesting the Kabuchai parliamentary seat, has moved to the Alliance party of Kenya(APK).
He explained that he opted to move to APK so that his name will be on the ballot and give the people of Kabuchai an opportunity to elect him.
“The anomalies and rigging for the New Ford Kenya nominations were massive. I moved on realizing there can be no free and fair nominations,” he said.
Mr. Kalasinga defected to APK alongside various county representative aspirants who include Mr. Waliaula Wabwile, Moses Busuru, Moses Wafula, David Wepukhulu and Peter Lumbuku.
Kanduyi parliamentary aspirant Mr. Charles Masinde who lost in the NFK party primaries says his supporters did not vote after election materials failed to be delivered after his opponents hid them.
“I was surprised to see votes being counted without voting having taken place,” he said.
Former Webuye MP Joash Wamang’oli who lost the Webuye West New Ford Kenya ticket to a newcomer Mr. Dan Wanyama has protested the results claiming that the elections had been rigged.
He says his opponents hijacked vehicles that were transporting election materials and marked ballots before stuffing them into the ballot boxes.
