Central Imenti MP Gitobu Imanyara has warned Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta against blackmailing the Meru community into joining TNA.
Imanyara said yesterday that Kenyans should exercise their constitutional rights of multiparty democracy and termed the comments by Uhuru as arrogant.
“The statements by Uhuru that the Meru should join TNA if they want a future are out of concept. He was not with us during the fight for the second liberation and should be warned that the Meru community will not be cowed by anybody to vote for him," Imanyara said.
“He is the one who is going to perish. The Kenyan constitution talks about multiparty democracy and it is arrogant for Uhuru to blackmail others that unless they join him they will perish."
Imanayara disputed allegations that he has foregone his quest for the Meru senate seat in favour of Energy Minister Kiraitu Murungi.
“People confronted me seeking to know why I had abandoned my quest for the senate seat and I was a bit surprised. My enemies are spreading malicious rumors that I have stood down for Kiraitu. I remain the front runner," the MP said.
He asked Kiraitu to step down for him saying he ought to have done a lot for the Meru people owing to his Cabinet position.
“He lacks direction since his bus has been dismantled and all the spare parts taken to his rural home of Kionyo," said Imanyara.
