Turkana North MP, John Munyes is being sought by the police
Turkana South residents are now up in arms following the arrest of their legislator Josphat Nanok.
Residents of Lokori and Lokichar staged a demonstration in the constituency demanding the release of their Member of Parliament as well as withdrawal of military troops from their area claiming the operation would harm innocent locals.
Nanok was arrested Friday night following his remarks over Samburu killings which were deemed to be inflammatory and suggestive.
The residents claim that their MP is not responsible for the Baragoi killings since cattle rustling in the region has existed since time immemorial.
They said the voter registration exercise which is set to kick off Monday would be greatly hampered by the operation because residents are beginning to move in droves fearing the wrath of the joint military operation.
Nanok is being held at the Kileleshwa police station following his remarks on the Baragoi Killings, which were understood to be defending the killer bandits and suggesting that the attack was pre-planned well under the Turkana Mps knowledge.
Nanok, together with the Turkana Central MP Ekwee Ethuro who recorded a statement with the CID Saturday will be taken to court on Monday to answer incitement charges.
Turkana North MP, John Munyes who is yet to present himself to the police is also being sought.
