MP in TROUBLE for beating a CATHOLIC PRIEST

Thursday November 22, 2012 - Kitui West MP Charles Nyamai is currently swimming in murky waters, after a Catholic priest accused him of beating him while working in his constituency.

According to Kitui OCPD Lillian Okembo, the MP who is allied to Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) was summoned by Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to record a statement.

The MP has been accused of assaulting father Richard Nguta of Kanyangi Catholic Parish, after he accused him of campaigning for his rivals in Kitui West Parliamentary seat.

“The CID department is carrying out investigations into the alleged threat since the complainant has recorded his statement. We have also summoned the MP to give his side of the story,” said the Kitui police chief.

“When we asked the MP to come to record his statement following the threat accusation, he promised to comply. However, he asked to record the statement before the Kitui Deputy OCPD,” said the OCPD.
