Former POLICEMAN turned businessman KILLED in Nairobi




Sunday, the 18th of November 2012 - A former policeman turned businessman was shot dead in disturbing robbery incident early yesterday morning.

The man, George Wainaina Kinuthia, a former Corporal of police was shot dead near the Equity branch close to Gikomba market where he had reportedly gone to deposit money.

An eye witness who saw the incident told the Kenyan DAILY POST that Kinuthia was attacked by three armed men who shot him at close range and took away a bag he was carrying;

“I then saw a man in a brown jacket writhing in pain for few seconds before he passed on,” said the witness.

The three men who shot Kinuthia then made their getaway by running off into the busy Muthurwa market.

Kinuthia is said to be the owner of the Wagaki Shopping Complex which is located near the Kamukunji Police Station. The deceased is said to have visited the police station some hours before the attack.

Nairobi PPO Moses Ombati, while confirming the incident, said that his office had established that the businessman’s wife is currently out of the country;

“His wife is out of the country and we are yet to know the amount he was taking to the bank,” said Ombati.
