As United States President Barack Obama and his family celebrated his re-election, a family in Nakuru had a major fight over the same victory.
Mr Moses Oduor was so excited following the victory that he squandered all the family savings in mounting a celebration party for his friends.
His wife Mary Achieng arrived home and was shocked to find her normally sober husband sprawled across the floor in a drunken stupor while their house in Bondeni Estate looked like it had been swept through by a tornado.
The shocked woman, who says her husband had been a responsible family man, beat up her drunken husband and one of his friends identified as Manipil Ombati who was still in the house.
Ms Achien’g was yet to get the shock of her life as she discovered that her husband had used up the entire Sh10,000 the couple had saved for family commitments.
When the effects of the alcohol started fading off, Mr Oduor admitted that he was so excited about the Obama victory that he used Sh9,360 to buy three crates of beer for friends to celebrate.
Neighbours confirmed that Oduor always took good care of his family and admitted that the victory could have led him to act irresponsibly.
In yet another incident, a Tuk Tuk operator celebrated the victory by giving a 70 per cent discount to all his clients.
Mr Polycarp Opiko said that he was celebrating the victory of his ‘brother’ adding that even though he could not travel to his rural home in Siaya to celebrate with his kinsmen, he had decided to celebrate by offering a discount to his customers.
Mr Opiko was charging Sh100 for a journey that he normally charges Sh300 saying that the amount was sufficient to fuel his Tuk Tuk.
Kenyans joined the rest of the world in celebrating the victory following the closely contested presidential race.
