TEN MPs at the weekend called for an ODM, Wiper Party and Ford Kenya alliance and praised Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka for ditching the G7.
The leaders said Kalonzo had been humiliated and belittled by the G7 group that had promised him a majority leader position in Parliament if they get the presidency.
Kangundo MP Johnstone Muthama and Education minister Mutula Kilonzo said: ''The VP should accept the wishes of the people, which is to form an alliance with ODM and even Ford Kenya along with other like-minded outfits. Peter Kiilu (Makueni) and Philip Kaloki (Kibwezi) were also present.
They were speaking at the weekend during the launch of Kilonzo'a senatorial campaign at Wote town in Makueni where Kalonzo was asked to join Prime Minister Raila Odinga's ODM ahead of the general election.
Lands minister James Orengo and MPs Oburu Odinga, Edwin Yinda, James Rege, John Mbandi and Wafwoli Wakoli were present. ‘'Raila and Kalonzo have known each other over the years and worked together, which means they can hammer a deal without much fuss,’ Rege said amid cheers from the crowd at the Unoa Grounds.
Muthana said Kalonzo ''has been humiliated by the thankless G7 leaders who did not even appreciate his efforts in trying to have the Hague cases against the four Kenyans deferred back to the country''.
The MP, who is also the joint government whip in Parliament, dismissed the G7 as ''a group of selfish leaders who were not patriotic and simply want to get power for the sake of it''.
Mutula said it was the people to decide on which coalition agreement they wanted and not the other way round adding that it was now obvious that ukambani people wanted a coalition arrangement with ODM and other like minded parties.
Mutula added that it was him and Orengo who drafted the national accord and reconciliation act which led to the subsequent formation of the coalition government.
The minister added that he had extended invitations to senatorial aspirants from central province but they had snubbed him saying their presence with wiper and ODM leaders would not augur well with their supporters.
‘ Kalonzo should now talk to Raila as that is what the people want and leave the drafting agreement to me and Orengo’Mutula said amid cheers from the crowd.
He added that the two leaders could reach an amicable deal on the presidency if Raila served for five years and let Kalonzo carry the mantle from there, the crowd screamed in affirmation.
Orengo said the majority leader post that the G7 was offering Kalonzo was humiliating and belittling as the VP was more senior and experienced than Uhuru and Ruto who had set aside the top positions for themselves.
He added that majority of the leaders in G7 could not pass the integrity test let alone be classified as reformers willing to fully implement the constitution.
Muthama said those advising Kalonzo to stay put in wiper alone wanted his ‘wave’ in ukambani so as to sweep them to the seats they were aspiring for and did not care if the vice presided was consigned to political oblivion after the general elections.
‘These people are Kalonzo’s worst enemies and he should drop them as fast as possible as they are driving him to political suicide’ Muthama said amid cheers.
Apparently, acting Wiper chairman David Musila who is going for the Kitui senate seat did not attend the function along with Mutula's rivals in Makueni assistant minister Gedion Ndambuki and John Harun Mwau who had all been invited.
The independent party leader Kalembe Ndile was also present and said he was for an ODM and Wiper party coalition with Raila for president for five years and letting Kalonzo take a stab for the top seat after that.
However, the VP has repeatedly said the decision to form a coalition with ODM rested with party members and said such a deal could not be reached in public meetings.
Apparently, the wiper party executive committee last week slotted its national delegates conference for December 3,the eve of the deadline for forming the pre-election coalitions.
There is talk of the emergence of a third force pitting Kalonzo and Musalia Mudavadi against those in ODM and TNA if Wiper and Musalia’s united democratic forum form a coalition.
Kalonzo’s spokesman Kaplich Barsito said the recent talks between the VP and Mudavadi were cordial and the two could reach a coalition arrangement
