Raila's take on ODM rebels

By Leonard Korir
Prime Minister Raila Odinga took his campaigns to Kilgoris, Narok County, where he maintained that ODM would form the next government and called upon party rebels to reconsider their decision.
Raila defended the much-publicised meeting between him and Eldoret North MP William Ruto saying he was ready to dialogue with any leader for the sake of the country’s peace and co-existence.
He cautioned Kenyans against tribal politics saying they have in the past split the country and appealed to the electorate to vote for visionary, focused and God fearing leaders.
The PM insisted that ODM would only work with parties that are ready to defend and fully implement the Constitution.
“Kenyans will be risking going back to the old regimes where there was no respect to human rights and lack of democracy if the next Government would be vested upon the hands of those leaders who passionately advocated for the rejection of the document during the referendum,” said Raila.
Fair nominations
Addressing public rallies at Kilgoris market and Lolgorian, the PM said he has no vendetta against any ODM rebel MPs and the “gate was still wide open for them to go back home.” The PM declared that he has no regrets about the Mau conservation efforts as those who opposed the move were benefiting from the fruits of the exercise.
“Conservation of Mau Forest was for the welfare of the millions of people deriving their livelihood from rivers drawing their source from the water tower and was not in any way of targeting any given community as claimed by a section of politicians from Rift Valley. The Kalenjin community should understand that I still have their interest at heart for the overwhelming support they gave me in the last polls,” he said.
At the same time Raila promised to ensure a free and fair nominations in ODM. He called upon women to vie for elective positions and pledged to accord them equal treatment with their male counterparts.
National Heritage Minister William ole Ntimama condemned tribal politics saying they were balkanising the country.
