Eldoret North MP William Ruto on Sunday admitted he has held meetings with other key party leaders on a friendly level describing this as healthy for the stability of Kenya.
While addressing a public rally at the Tonoka Grounds in Mombasa, Mr Ruto, who is also United Republican Party (URP) leader urged Kenyans to support his endeavours of 'meeting rival party leaders'.
Over the past few days, the press has claimed that Mr Ruto had a secret meeting with PM Odinga last week to broker a deal.
"Reports in the media have speculated that I have had talks with political leaders. This has been done at a friendly level. However, Kenyans will vote for the next president," he said.
"Such meetings should be encouraged. Dialogue, consultation and friendship should be encouraged for the sake of peace for Kenya," he said.
He said politicians should have ideologies that are issue driven and resonate with the Kenya's needs.
"Kenya's leadership should not be handed to the so-called 'reformers' with no track record of development. It should go to those who have proved they can work and deliver, not simply talk
without performing," he said.
He said a URP government would solve the Coast pertinent issues such as landlessness, unemployment, food insecurity, resource ownership and drug addictions.
"I know this province more than any of the presidential candidates and I have been to all constituencies. Coast problems require practical solutions which I will provide," he said.
