Big boost for RAILA Odinga as he fishes KANU bigwig

Thursday October 4, 2012 - Prime Minister Raila Odinga's Presidential bid got a major boost after former Ntonyiri MP Maoka Maore ditched KANU and joined Orange Democratic Movement.

Maoka, who is a former KANU chairman in Eastern Province, is a close associate of Imenti South MP Gitobu Imanyara and this is a big boost for the PM’s presidential quest in the Eastern region.

Maoka was received at the Orange Party by ODM Secretary General Prof Anyang Nyong’o who said the party was confident of clinching the Presidency in the next General Election.
Nyong'o, who is also the Medical Services Minister, urged other politicians wishing to vie for various seats in the elections to join ODM, which he said will conduct free, fair and transparent nominations.

"Their (defectors) coming to the party will have a tremendous effect on our campaigns and boost our outreach”, Nyong’o said.

Others who joined the Orange party are former Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology Vice ChancellorProf Ratemo Michieka, Former Ford-Kenya vice chairperson Gloria Akhayalu, Mumias mayor Caroline Waluchio and Kakamega county Knut branch chairman Patrick Chungani.
