Bet, Langat And Koskei Vow To Stay Put In ODM

Three Rift Valley MPs have vowed to remain in Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) even if all Party members defect to other parties.

Roads Minister Franklin Bett, Agriculture Minister Dr Sally Kosgei and Energy assistant Minister Magerer Langat said they have no plans to ditch ODM for any other political party.
The three Ministers dismissed claims that they were due to shift their allegiance to the United Republican Party (URP) presidential aspirant William Ruto, saying they are not carried away by the current political wave of party hopping and defections.

Bett who is also the Bureti MP said he would contest for Kericho County governor seat on ODM ticket as Mr Langat declared he would defend his Kipkellion West seat on the same ticket.

However, the three leaders who were speaking at Kaplaba Liberty Church in Kipkellion, appealed for peace during and after the coming election in cosmopolitan constituencies.

“We would not like a repeat of the ugly picture which occurred here following the bungled presidential elections in 2007.We want to see the various communities living in the region co-exist peacefully and participate in the coming polls without any fear,” Bett said.

On her part Dr Kosgei said she would not be involved in party hopping adding that she is ready to battle it out with competitors from other parties.

“I am not the type to keep changing parties. If I do that there must be a very convincing reason,”Kosgei said.

The trio also unanimously agreed to launch a vigorous campaign for ODM in South Rift region to ensure Prime Minister Raila Odinga clinches Presidency in March next year’s poll.
