UHURU Kenyatta’s TNA will not be covered on Citizen TV (Faridah and SK)

Thursday, September 13, 2012 - Citizen TV’s Editorial Director Fariday Karoney may be on the road to losing her touch and legacy as she is seen in the recent past practicing partiality in political coverage. According to many she is basically following S. K. Macharia’s orders but as one of the best editors in the market she should know better.

Apparently when the Deputy Prime Minister and presidential aspirant Uhuru Kenyatta was launching his party, The National Alliance (TNA) party, he failed to consult Macharia or even involve him in the launch since he is from Murang'a County which is the strong-hold of TNA.

Macharia has since then ordered his stations not to diversely cover TNA rallies and lots of news regarding the party which is seen as promoting partiality before the General Elections next year. It is only fair if all stations in Kenya would cover all political parties in Kenya to promote peace thorugh free and fair journalism.

Journalists have been used by politicians to favor them in their coverage and promote their popularity in their counties. A lot of peace campaigns have however been conducted and most stations have learnt the hard lesson after the 2007 Post Election Violence.
