  • On Tuesday, Mr Kenyatta declared excitement about his party’s success in the by elections, declaring that winning the Kangema and Kajiado North seats was a vote of confidence on TNA by Kenyans.
  • The TNA also staged a sensational upset in the Rift Valley by winning the Market Ward right at the heart of United Republican Party (URP) leader Mr William Ruto’s Eldoret North constituency.
  • The party further led a political assault on Mr Odinga in Nyanza by winning the Nyaramba/ Nyagaga ward in Nyamira County in the ODM stronghold.
The National Alliance and the Orange Democratic Movement were yesterday exuding confidence of their stake in the next polls after decisive outcome in the just concluded three parliamentary and 15 civic seats.
The TNA of Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta won the Kajiado North and Kangema parliamentary seats at the same time as it clinched four civic seats, including two in his presidential rivals’s strongholds.
In addition to retaining the Ndhiwa parliamentary seat which had come under assault from Kanu, Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM won seven civic seats among them the Bukura civic ward which many thought was to be easily secured by the United Democratic Forum (UDF) of deputy PM Musalia Mudavadi.
On Tuesday, Mr Kenyatta declared excitement about his party’s success in the by elections, declaring that winning the Kangema and Kajiado North seats was a vote of confidence on TNA by Kenyans.
TNA candidates Moses ole Sakuda won in Kajiado North while Tirus Ngahu won in Kangema.
“On the basis of the votes TNA is set for victory in the 2013 elections. This is the message politicians from the past should take note of, TNA is the party of the present and the future, and where we lead others can only try to follow,” he declared.
The TNA also staged a sensational upset in the Rift Valley by winning the Market Ward right at the heart of United Republican Party (URP) leader Mr William Ruto’s Eldoret North constituency.

“I thank the voters across Kenya for the support they have given to us today. Through their votes it is clear they see TNA as a party that has no no-go areas in our country, and is the only party that can unite the people of Kenya on their journey to peace and prosperity,” Mr Kenyatta said.

Nairobi Metropolitan minister Jamleck Kamau said TNA ha demonstrated its readiness to win the next elections. “It is a clear indication of where the votes will go in 2013,” he said.
As TNA was celebrating the exploits of his party, Mr Odinga was praising the winners for the victories stressing that he was happy with the ODM performance.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate Augustino Neto Oyugi, the MP-elect for Ndhiwa Constituency. Your win is a testimony of the people’s faith in the reforms that our country has firmly embarked on,” Mr Odinga said in a Statement dispatched from his campaign secretariat.
ODM secretary general Anyang Nyong’o convened a press conference to express the party’s delight over their gains in the by-elections.
The ODM clinched the Ndhiwa Parliamentary seat won by Mr Augistino Neto . It also won seven of the 15 civic seats in by-elections countrywide asserting its authority in Kakamega County where the party trounced Mr Mudavadi’s UDF.
