Langat denies claims he wants to quit ODM

Energy assistant minister Magerer Langat has dismissed claims that he plans to ditch the ODM for another political party.
Mr Langat said the claims, made by the media, were simply “mere speculation”, adding that his support for the presidential candidature of Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who is also the ODM leader, was still intact. (READ: Raila allies threaten to ditch him over IDPs)
“I have not told anybody that I have any intention of defecting from the Orange party. Where did the media get the idea from?” asked Mr Langat in Kericho Town,
The Kipkelion MP however warned Mr Odinga that a political disquiet had been created in the South Rift region by the failed resettlement of more than 5,000 families ejected from the Mau Forest three years ago.
He further warned that opponents of the PM in Kericho and Bomet counties would use the issue to campaign against ODM, which would most likely work to the disadvantage of Mr Odinga’s allies in the region during the election campaigns.
“Raila must know that we are running out of time, with the campaigning period almost here,” he said.
