Kiraitu: We support Uhuru’s bid for top seat

Alliance Party of Kenya followers have been told to ignore claims that the party does not have a presidential aspirant.
The party would back Mr Uhuru Kenyatta’s bid for the top seat, its leader, Mr Kiraitu Murungi, told a forum at Nkandone in Igembe North District on Monday.
The Energy minister told aspirants for the various seats in the coming polls that they were also the “drivers” of the bus party in their regions.

“Ignore those who are saying that there is no driver for our bus. If you are aspiring to be the ward representative with our party, you are the driver at the ward level just like those who are vying for other seats like MP or the governor,” he told the leaders’ forum.
He said the race for the presidency was competitive and that no aspirant would win it single-handedly.
Meru leaders, he said, were looking for a presidential candidate who would be like President Kibaki in terms of putting their region ahead in terms of development.
“We want leadership that will transform Meru region and therefore I urge all of you to vote for development this time,” he said.
