Kenyan Teenager faces sentence for Buffalo brawl killing in New York
BUFFALO, N.Y. — An 18-year-old Kenyan native is due to be sentenced on Wednesday for stabbing another teen to death during a fight on a Buffalo street last year.
Muridi Mohamed was arrested in August 2011 and originally charged with second-degree murder in the slaying of 16-year-old Dai'John Johnson.
Police say Johnson, Mohamed and more than a dozen other people were involved in a street brawl. Authorities say Mohamed stabbed Johnson in front of Johnson's home. He later died at a Buffalo hospital.
Officials say Mohamed has been in the United States about six years.
He was convicted August 2 of first-degree manslaughter at a bench trial.
