KDF capture Miido, kill 36 Al-shabaab

Miido town was a stronghold of the Al Shabaab as it offers a tactical advantage for a defensive position
36 Al-shabaab fighters have been killed and several Kenyan soldiers injured in fierce fighting in Miido town, in Somalia.
Military spokesman Major Emmanuel Chirchir confirmed on his twitter account on Saturday that AMISOM forces together with Somali Transitional Government Forces in sector 2 had captured Miido town.
He said that three soldiers were injured and flown to Dobley for treatment while five others are missing. 
"AMISOM forces together with TFG soldiers in sector 2 captured Miido town and neutralized at least 36 Al Shabaab militants on 31 August 2012.  5 KDF personnel are missing in action after the incident. 3 KDF soldiers sustained injuries and have been flown to Dobley for medical attention" he said.
During the fighting, seven al Shabaab technical vehicles and logistic supplies were destroyed while other assorted weapons and ammunition were recovered.
Miido town was a stronghold of the Al Shabaab as it offers a tactical advantage for a defensive position.
The Kenya Defense Forces have twice this week attacked Al-Shabaab defense positions outside Kismayu in their effort to capture the port city.
On Wednesday this week, KDF alongside the Somali Transitional Government Forces and its Ras Kamboni allies made a strategic military move against Al-Shabaab militia positions between Afmadow and Kismayu
