Remember Joseph Hellon of the Finger of God church? We are told the jazz musician is in the middle of writing a semi-autobiography that is tentatively titled The Cradle of My Dream, in which he will set the record straight on the Esther Arunga-Quincy Timberlake saga.

The Friends of Raila (Fora) have become suspicious of one of their own whom they suspect is leaking all their strategies to 'outsiders'. It seems the leak is well known among the key officials who dislike his presence so much that when he walks into a meeting, most of them go mute or start talking about irrelevancies.

Nobody said English was an easy language to learn or speak. That is why Kenglish—that peculiarly Kenyan brand of the Queens English—is pervasive everywhere. That is why the language purists among the junior judiciary staff were squirming in embarrassment when several judges who accompanied Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to a public lecture at the UON stood up to introduce themselves. "My names are..." several of the judges said, not realising one cannot have multiple identities. The only consolation was that some of the learned university law professors imitated them and introduced themselves in a similar manner.

Still on matters English, a prominent Kenyan personality complained to Corridors about two signposts on the Karen-Racecourse bypass section that is currently under construction. "Driving from Racecourse, the post reads 'Diversion Ahead' but driving from Karen, the post reads 'Deviation Ahead'. If they cannot get these simple basics of grammar, how can we trust them to get the ratios for mixing ballast right?!"
