Youths vying for county representative seats on a Safina ticket will get free and direct nomination, the party has said. The party’s director of elections, John Wamagata, yesterday said any person below 35 years will also be sponsored by the party for their campaigns. The youth will not be required to pay a shilling for nominations. He said this is one of Safina’s strategies to promote youth leadership within the party and in the country.
He was speaking after a party meeting with officials of the six Coast counties at a hotel in Mombasa yesterday. The elections director also said the party will set up special courts across the country that will deal with historical injustices, if their presidential candidate Paul Muite captures the country’s top seat. Wamagata said the party will also act on all the reports that have been done by different commissions including the Waki, Ndung’u, Bosire reports among others. Mombasa county coordinator John Kanyiri called on the government to ensure security at the Coast during the voter registration exercise ahead of the elections next year.
