Raila calls for Kenyans to shun TRIBAL ALLIANCES

Monday August 27, 2012 - Prime Minister Raila Odinga has urged Kenyans to shun leaders who divide Kenyans along ethnic lines.

Speaking during at a National Peace Conference in Nairobi on Monday, Raila urged Kenyans to be united as one Kenya and avoid being divided for selfish political interest.

He urged the Judiciary, media, the police and Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to act with impartiality to ensure a free, credible and democratic poll.

Raila praised the Judiciary for the ongoing judicial reforms saying now Kenyans have faith with the new face of the Judiciary.

On the issue of Biometric Voter Registration(BVR) kits, Raila urged IEBC to ensure there is openness in the tendering system  to avoid the  repeat of  2007-08 post election violence which left 1133 Kenyans dead and over half a million displaced.
