Public varsities to offer places to 41,996 students

A total of 41,996 of 119,658 students who attained university admission grades in last year’s KCSE will get places in public universities.
On Friday, the Joint Admissions Board said the students would be offered places in the universities and their constituent colleges.
University of Nairobi will take 4,832, Kenyatta University 4,376 and Moi University 4,505. Others will absorb the rest with Egerton taking in 3,005, JKUAT 1,762, Masinde Muliro 1,430, Kenya Polytechnic University 1,461, Pwani 638, Kimathi 918, Mombasa Polytechnic 629, Chuka 1,170, Kisii 919, Narok 1,110, Meru 626 and Kabianga 1,010.
Others are Bondo 893, South Eastern University College 1,287, Multimedia 642, Laikipia 1,156, Karatina 994, Chepkoilel 2,514, Taita Taveta 473, Murang’a 229, Kirinyaga 218, Co-operative 351, Kibabii 465, Garrisa 583, Rongo 702, Embu 329, and Machakos 352.
